Equipment

The Windsurfer LT

The official class board is the new Windsurfer LT. This board was developed to take the classic shape of the windsurfer into the 21st century. The new hull is lightweight yet durable, with sufficient volume to support sailors in a wide range of conditions. The soft, non-slip EVA deck enhances handling and control.

The board can be set up for both recreational sailing and official class racing. The longer, wider daggerboard is the official race daggerboard and is also preferable for recreational use for better upwind performance.

All boards are supplied with a standard tool-less powerbox rear fin.

The Windsurfer LT is available through a number of brand partners and each board can be identified through a unique class logo with an individual serial number located on the tail of the board.

The Sail

The official windsurfer class sail is a 5.7m mylar sail. It is suitable for almost all sailors in most racing conditions and is easy to rig. This is the only official sail for racing in IWCA events. Each official class sail is identifiable by a registered class association patch with a unique serial number.

For learning, high wind, and youth sailors there are two trainer sizes, 4.5m and 4.0m, made from dacron materials. All windsurfer brand sails fit on the standard rig parts used for the 5.7m sail.

The Mast

The official windsurfer class mast is a black 460cm, 30% carbon, standard diameter mast stamped with the official class insignia.

The Boom

The official windsurfer class boom is a black, standard diameter aluminum boom with the official Windsurfer brand insignia. Its length is adjustable from 180cm to 230cm and can be used with the two smaller trainer sized sails as well as the official 5.7m class sail.

This is the only boom registered for use in official IWCA events but as with other parts, some older model booms from previous windsurfer class generations may be accepted for events.

Rigging Parts

The base extension and joint used to complete the windsurfer class rig are also class registered official products. Rigging is fast and easy and no special tools are needed.

Both are available along with all other equipment through authorized suppliers around the globe.

Similar to the mast and boom, older series bases and joints will be accepted into Windsurfer Class events as authorized by the event organizer and the IWCA.

Non-IWCA bases and joints may be accepted into races at the discretion of the IWCA and the event race committee.
